Ol Tukai sits right in the middle of Amboseli, at the foot of Kilimanjaro, and it is probably the best-known address in the park. The position is the point: Amboseli's elephant herds move across the marshes in front of it, and the mountain fills the southern horizon when the cloud lifts.
It is a proper lodge rather than a camp — solid rooms, generous public areas, gardens. If someone in your party is nervous about canvas, this is where that conversation ends.
The lodge stands on the site used by the crew who filmed the screen adaptation of Ernest Hemingway's The Snows of Kilimanjaro. It opened as a lodge in 1996 on that same spot. Writers have called Amboseli “a home for the gods”, and standing there with the mountain out, you can see why the film people picked it.

June to October and January to February are driest and give the clearest mountain views — and the mountain is why most people come.
In the wet months Kilimanjaro can hide behind cloud for days. Elephant viewing stays excellent regardless, and rates fall.
