Praro is the Amboseli property in the Zebra Plains Collection, the same group behind Zebra Plains Mara Camp and the Lalashe lodges. It is an intimate tented camp where canvas comfort meets open views across the plains.
The practical side is unusually well sorted for a remote camp: 24-hour power at 240V, laundry, a proper indoor restaurant plus outdoor dining, indoor and outdoor lounges, a bar and a satellite TV lounge for anyone who cannot miss a match.
Praro keeps an in-house clinical officer, with some treatments chargeable. On a remote Amboseli property, hours from a hospital, that is a genuinely meaningful thing — particularly for older travellers, families with young children, or anyone managing a condition. Very few camps at any price offer it.
Luxury tents with the camp's facilities close at hand.
Amboseli's dry seasons, June to October and January to February, give the clearest Kilimanjaro views and tightest game concentrations.
The Zebra Plains group runs scheduled flights between Amboseli and the Masai Mara, so a Praro stay combines with their Mara camps without a long road transfer.
Being straight with you: this property is not currently a default in any of our fixed packages. We contract it directly and build it in on request. Any of these itineraries can be re-costed around it:
Comparing options? Every lodge we book is on the accommodations page. We would rather put you somewhere that suits you than somewhere that pays us more.
Tell us your budget and dates and we will put two or three Amboseli options side by side, honestly compared.
