Your guide meets you at the airport and transfers you to your hotel for lunch. After settling in, you head to the foothills of Mount Kenya — Africa's second-highest peak — and begin your ascent toward Lake Ellis Camp at approximately 3,500m. The trail winds through dense montane forest and moorland, offering stunning views and a taste of Kenya's wilderness beyond the savannah.
After breakfast at camp, you descend from the mountain and make your way north to Samburu National Reserve. En route, you stop for an immersive cultural village visit with the Samburu people — one of Kenya's most distinctive pastoral communities. Learn about their traditions, colourful beadwork, and centuries-old way of life before arriving at your lodge in the late afternoon.
A full day dedicated to exploring Samburu National Reserve — one of Kenya's most rewarding wildlife destinations. The reserve is famous for its "Samburu Special Five": the Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy's Zebra, Beisa Oryx, Somali Ostrich, and Gerenuk. Morning and afternoon game drives along the Ewaso Ng'iro River give you maximum time with the wildlife. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush.
After breakfast, you transfer south from Samburu toward Aberdare National Park — a dramatically different landscape of rainforest, bamboo groves, and moorland. You check in to The Ark, a unique treehouse-style lodge built over a floodlit waterhole, where buffalo, elephant, rhino, and leopard visit through the night.
Spend a full day in the Aberdares soaking in the high-altitude forest environment. Watch the waterhole from The Ark's viewing decks as animals visit at dawn, then venture out for game drives through the park's misty moorlands and waterfalls. Look out for Black Leopard, Giant Forest Hog, Cape Buffalo, and dozens of bird species found only in this highland forest ecosystem.
After a final breakfast at The Ark, your guide drives you back to Nairobi. You'll arrive in the city in the early afternoon, with time to stop for a meal or do some last-minute shopping before your flight. Your driver-guide will drop you at the airport for your departure — the end of a truly remarkable Kenyan adventure.
