10-Day Kenya Safari Package from Nairobi

10 Days Private Tour 6 National Parks 5.0 · 62 Reviews Best Seller

Safari Overview

This 10-Day Kenya Safari Package from Nairobi is our most popular itinerary — and for good reason. Over 10 incredible days, you'll experience the full spectrum of Kenya's wildlife and landscapes, visiting 6 of the country's most iconic national parks and reserves.

Your adventure begins at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro in Amboseli National Park, home to Kenya's famous big-tusked elephants. You'll then head north to Ol Pejeta Conservancy, the last refuge of the northern white rhino, and onto Samburu National Reserve to spot the Northern Specials — rare animals found only in this arid landscape.

The journey continues through the scenic Lake Naivasha and the flamingo-studded shores of Lake Nakuru, before culminating in the crown jewel of African wildlife — the Masai Mara National Reserve, where the Great Migration passes from July to October.

Safari Highlights

Amboseli Elephants — Big-tusked elephants with Mt. Kilimanjaro as the backdrop. Nowhere else in Africa offers this view.

Lake Naivasha — Boat ride and walking safari among hippos, giraffes, and over 400 bird species.

Lake Nakuru — Thousands of flamingos, Rothschild's giraffes, black and white rhinos, and tree-climbing lions.

Masai Mara Big Five — Two days of game drives in the most famous wildlife reserve on Earth, plus an evening Maasai village visit.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 — Nairobi to Amboseli National Park

Day 1
Your PMK guide picks you up from your Nairobi hotel or JKIA airport early morning. Drive south towards Amboseli (approx 4 hours). En route, enjoy views of the Great Rift Valley and the Chyulu Hills. Arrive at your lodge in time for a hearty lunch. Afternoon game drive looking for elephants, lions, cheetahs, and zebras against the stunning backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. Sundowner drinks. Dinner and overnight at Amboseli Sopa Lodge or similar.

Day 2 — Full Day in Amboseli

Day 2
Rise at dawn for a spectacular sunrise game drive — the light on Kilimanjaro is extraordinary. Amboseli is famous for its large elephant herds; you may encounter 50–100 elephants at once near the swamp areas. Look out for lions, hyenas, jackals, hippos, and hundreds of water birds. After lunch, afternoon drive to different areas of the park. Optional visit to a Maasai village in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Amboseli lodge.

Day 3 — Amboseli to Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Day 3
Early morning game drive before breakfast, then drive north through Nairobi and onto the Laikipia Plateau to reach Ol Pejeta Conservancy (approx 5–6 hours with stops). This private conservancy is home to 13 of the Big Five, including the last two northern white rhinos on Earth, Najin and Fatu — a visit to the rhino sanctuary is a real highlight. Afternoon game drive in search of lions, elephants, buffalos, leopards, and cheetahs, with an optional stop at the chimpanzee sanctuary run by the Jane Goodall Institute. Dinner and overnight at Sweetwaters Serena Camp or similar.

Day 4 — Ol Pejeta to Samburu National Reserve

Day 4
Morning drive north to the rugged Samburu National Reserve, bisected by the Ewaso Ng'iro River (approx 3 hours). Afternoon game drive in search of the 'Samburu Special Five' — reticulated giraffe, Grevy's zebra, beisa oryx, gerenuk, and Somali ostrich. The riverine habitat also means excellent leopard sightings. Dinner and overnight at Samburu Sopa Lodge or similar tented camp.

Day 5 — Full Day in Samburu

Day 5
Samburu is spectacular at dawn. Morning drive along the river, where crocodiles sun on the banks and elephant herds come to drink. Afternoon drive exploring the drier terrain where you find the rarer northern species. Optional: visit a Samburu community village to experience traditional culture. Sunset drinks at the river. Dinner and overnight.

Day 6 — Samburu to Lake Naivasha

Day 6
Drive south to the Great Rift Valley and the beautiful freshwater Lake Naivasha (approx 4–5 hours). Afternoon boat safari on the lake among hippos and huge flocks of waterbirds. Optional: Guided walking safari on Crescent Island (hippos, giraffes, zebras — no predators!). Sunset on the lake is exceptional. Dinner and overnight at a lakeside property.

Day 7 — Lake Naivasha to Lake Nakuru

Day 7
Short drive (1 hour) to Lake Nakuru National Park. Enter the park for a full afternoon of game drives. Lake Nakuru is famous for its flamingos, rhino sanctuary, and Rothschild's giraffe. Look out for black and white rhinos, lions (sometimes tree-climbing), leopards, and waterbuck. The alkaline lake, framed by acacia forest and cliffs, creates a stunning visual. Dinner and overnight at Lake Nakuru Lodge or similar.

Day 8 — Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara National Reserve

Day 8
Morning game drive in Nakuru before heading west to the Masai Mara (approx 3–4 hours via Narok, with a Great Rift Valley viewpoint stop). Arrive at your Mara camp in time for a late afternoon game drive. The Masai Mara needs no introduction — with a resident predator population unlike any other, this is where big cat sightings are almost guaranteed. In the evening, visit a nearby Maasai village to experience traditional customs, dance, and daily life. Dinner and overnight at your Mara camp or lodge.

Day 9 — Full Day in Masai Mara

Day 9
A full day dedicated to the Mara. Set out at dawn for the best light and the most active game viewing, following resident lion prides and, seasonally, the Great Migration herds crossing the Mara River. Enjoy a picnic lunch out in the reserve before an afternoon game drive exploring a different part of the ecosystem, depending on where the action is. Dinner and overnight at your Mara camp or lodge.

Day 10 — Departure — Masai Mara to Nairobi

Day 10
After a final relaxed breakfast, begin the drive back to Nairobi (approx 5–6 hours via Narok), pausing at the Great Rift Valley escarpment viewpoints for one last look at the landscapes you've crossed. Your guide drops you at your hotel, JKIA, or anywhere in Nairobi in time for onward travel. This concludes your 10-Day Kenya Safari — we hope it surpassed every expectation!
